Story They Tell…

"You turn into a fish here in Bonito because diving into the clear waters of the rivers is like plunging into a teeming, colorful aquarium."

Ana M. Arruda

Brazil’s best ecological tourism destination.

Nature was bountiful toward Bonito. Rivers of crystal-clear water and deep-blue lagoons teeming with fish, forests that shelter jaguars, macaws and other threatened species, as well as caverns packed with ancient stalactites. And as you go, there is an abundance of waterfalls to bathe your soul. A true example of sustainable tourism: it is organized and there are strict controls on access—all on behalf of conservation. Although seeing is believing, for some of the attractions you will want to look twice: Nascente Azul, for example, with its 20-foot deep pool of myriad hues of blue. Bonito lies close to the Pantanal wetlands, so it makes perfect sense to take in both in the same trip.
