Off the coast of Alagoas the colorful corals of the world’s second-largest reef—shorter only than the Great Barrier Reef—are a delight for the lucky divers who gaze upon them. The sandy coastline of Alagoas boasts the renowned Praia do Francês and Galés de Maragogi beaches. Far from the more crowded tourist spots São Miguel dos Milagres is one of the region’s oldest fishing villages: it is so small it boasts only the one street—it is an ideal hideaway for anyone unwilling to share their place in the sun!
